It Takes The Pain Away is the brand new double single from Skelatin, a cheeky New Orleans indie rock band that is serious in design but facetious in application. The band is originally the creative machine of Sam Levine with the help of Paul McKenna, Corey Dibiase, and Frederico Mejia. Their new two-song EP is a lean version of Levine’s quirky songwriting with catchy hooks and refined song structures. After their 2017 release of These Living Rooms the band suffered some member changes but through this loss camefor simple and controlled songs. Their new EP delivers an energy that is daring yet contemplative. Levine dances around on the bass pushing and pulling the songs while McKenna and recording drummer, Jordan Bodzin fill the gaps with flurries of rhythms and melodies. It Takes The Pain Away also features music videos for both songs, one directed by Max Frew and the other by Erik Skamstad. For only two songs, the EP gives a focused look into the band’s dynamics and talent and showcases Levine’s creative output.
